1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
auto vacuum are good in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it began. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.
In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households however, it can also fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like an enchanted wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large dust and crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical and not a remarkable time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to get every single area (though a second run-through usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice touch.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested and could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.
